America is a Christian Country: Give Credit Where Credit is Due
French historian Alexis de Tocqueville (not a Christian, I believe) gives us great insight.
He wrote in Democracy in America in 1835 that Europeans practiced religion from a “barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live,” but Americans “combine the notions of Christianity and liberty so intimately that it is impossible to make them conceive of one without the other.” In contrast to America, the French believed that religion and freedom were incompatible. To the contrary, De Tocqueville said: “There are certain populations in Europe whose unbelief is only equaled by their ignorance and debasement; while in America, one of the freest and most enlightened nations in the world, the people fulfill with fervor all the outward duties of religion.”
De Tocqueville pronounced religion “the foremost of the political institutions” in America. He said there exists no country in the world “where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America.” As a result, “while the law permits the Americans to do what they please, religion prevents them from conceiving, and forbids them to commit, what is rash or unjust.”

NOTE: The Left always quotes the exceptions to these historical facts, and then declares the exception more significant than the rule.
They apply their famous 1%-99% Rule: If there is one exception to a rule, they self-righteously declare it null and void. Unless it is an argument for one of their positions.
Here are a few examples of their failed policies that are "untouchable":
1. America's failed education system, despite being controlled for forty years by Democrats.
2. The Left's absurd "War on Poverty" with endless government handouts and its accompanying "welfare culture."
3. Feminism which has lead to more illegitimacy (and its associated poverty, crime, drug-use, illiteracy, etc.), fewer marriages, more divorce, the coarsening of our culture, increased abortions, etc, etc.
4. Multiculturalism is destroying our culture and our religion despite Christian Americans having created "one of the freest and most enlightened nations in the world."
5. Communism has replaced Federalism and States Rights, as defined by Article 1, Section 8 and the 10th Amendment in the Constitution, and their specific protections from tyranny.
6. Race relations, despite having improved drastically, have been getting worse and worse as the Left abuses the term "racist" in order to attack Conservatives on any and every issue while black and hispanic communities, free of any criticisms, devolve into anarchy with 50% drop-out rates, 70% illegitimacy, rampant crime, violence and drug-use.
And, yet, we are supposed to listen to these people. Hypocrits and liars, all.
